No Weapon Shall Prosper

By Pastor Don Nicely

Parent I want to tell you right now that you are already a winner. The simple fact that you are reading this means you care your children and want to see them grow to live a victorious life. I know that by the time you finish this pamphlet you will be taught how to send your kids off into a world that is opposed to their belief systems.

God has called us as parents to help our children achieve their dreams and goals in life. He has selected us to teach them and guide them through the battles and struggles of life. Many of the battles that we face in life are not our choice, but winning is. That's why it is so important that we help our kids develop their faith and lead them into having a personal encounter with God. They must learn that they will never win their spiritual battles logically. Look at this scripture for guidance.

2 Corinthians 10:4 (NKJV)4For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,

We must teach our children that spiritual battles can only be won by spiritual warfare. We can never win spiritual battles in our own strength.

Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV)6So he answered and said to me: "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the Lord of hosts.

Seven steps to winning the war

1--Teach your kids to know and speak the word of God..
Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)
12For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

If your kids learn the word and learn how to speak the word with boldness they will be a step ahead in this world. The word applied to our life is our victory.

2--Teach your kids to speak with he mentality of a winner...
Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)
21Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

James the brother of Jesus said that our lives are steered by what we say.

James 3:4-5 (NKJV)4Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. 5Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!
They should be taught to speak positive.

3--Take authority over Satan in the name of Jesus...
Proverbs 18:10 (NKJV)
10The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Philippians 2:9-10 (NKJV)
9Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.

No enemy can stand against the name of Jesus. It is the most powerful name to ever be given to a person. Use the name of Jesus to get the devil out of your life.

4--Before your kids leave your home every morning by faith clothe them in spiritual armor by prayer...

Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV)
13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you maybe able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

God's spiritual armor is to protect our mind and heart from demonic attacks. When you pray God's armor of protection over them and teach them to do likewise you are preparing them for anything that Satan can have planned against them.

5--Don't underestimate the power of prayer and fasting...

James 5:16 (NKJV)Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Isaiah 58:6 (NKJV)6"Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

God hears the white hot prayers of parents when they pray over their kids. Lay hands on your kids regularly and pray over them.

6--Be a spiritual mentor to your children....

Proverbs 1:5 (NKJV)5A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,

Kids need to look to their parents for spiritual guidance. Too many parents rely on the church for their kid's spiritual education. Although the church can assist in their training the responsibility lays on the shoulders of the parents. God will hold you accountable for not raising your children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Plan regular times to sit down with your kids and read the word together. Show them by example how important you believe the word is. Let them see you reading it regularly. Practice memorizing verses together and do your best to help them get a good start in their spiritual development before they leave your home.

7--Don't forget to bless your kids regularly...The Old Testament Patriarchs understood the value of passing the blessing of god on to their children. Too many parents are busy cursing their kids with their mouths.

Instead of cursing them you should place your hand on their head and bless them.

I pray that these simple steps will aid you in protecting your children from the attacks of the enemy. Use them and keep your kids on your team.
