| This Month's Newsletter"Part 11 Spiritual Warfare: The Weapon of Prayer"Don Nicely Ministries Newsletter for November Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV)18praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints-- Prayer is the whole purpose for the armor in the first place. We fight our flesh with fasting and denial. We fight the devil with the word of God and we fight the temptations of the world with prayer. Prayer doesn’t change God’s mind it changes us from the inside out. Only by prayer can we prepare our lives to march into enemy held territory and take back what rightfully belongs to us. Do you understand that we have been given a direct line to the throne room. The creator of the universe has given us his cell phone number. And to make things better he has given us the promise of having an audience with himself. Hebrews 10:19 (NKJV)19Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus. Prayer is like our two-way radio to help us stay in communication with the captain of the army. Through prayer we can receive the power to stay r stand secure while we are on the defensive waiting on the Holy Spirit to lead us to the offensive. Through prayer we are able to see into the invisible world and know what tactics to use to defeat the invisible enemy. Prayer is the major key to discerning Satan’s strategies that he plans to use against us. While we are in prayer we will discover God’s will on the matter and be able to know this perspective in discovering spiritual issues. According to Jeremiah 33:3 which has come to be known as God’s phone number the Holy Spirit will speak to us and guide us into how to use our defensive and offensive weapons effectively in whichever situation we may be facing at the time. Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)3’Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ He will give us the insight we need to face the enemy with confidence and faith. To be victorious in every spiritual battle we must have a clear understanding of the revelation of God and depend on his insights. God promises that when we approach the throne of grace we will receive help in time of need. The power and authority of God is essential in spiritual warfare. We can only resist the enemy in God’s authority alone. When we speak the name of Jesus we are speaking decisive truths to the enemy about what Jesus has done to him. Through his infinite love and power the triumph of the cross is made manifest in our lives. It is through his willingness to resign his powers from on High that he was able to submit to the Father’s will and thus receive the first resurrection that would break the power of the enemy known as death forever. Jesus now has all authority in heaven and on the earth. Matthew 28:18 (NKJV)18And Jesus came and spoke to them saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. So when we pray in Jesus’s name we invoke His authority over Satan and his demons. As his church we are to continue to exercise His authority because we are continuing the work that he started while he was on the earth in the flesh. We must be careful to remain in the work that he started and never act independently of God. Jesus is our example of only doing what the Father told him to do. John 5:19 (NKJV)19Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. When we walk under the Spirit’s guidance we won’t quench or grieve him, so must constantly seek his guidance. Also finally we must stay in continuous prayer until Jesus returns to take us to be with him. Friend spiritual warfare is a continuous battle on this earth. We are called by God to active duty to not serve a two or four or twenty year term, but instead a lifetime term of service to him. Satan is constantly and continually trying to infiltrate the ranks of the Most High’s army and you don’t want to be the weak link in the chain that he is able to break through and enter in through. If you let him penetrate your thought life with his lies he will render you useless in God’s army. So stay in constant contact with the commander and chief and fight the propaganda of the enemy. Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)3You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. If we do this the enemy won’t be able to catch us off guard and weaken our walk with God. Remember to pray without ceasing. Continued Next Month |
