| This Month's Newsletter"Part 4 Put on the whle Armor of God"Don Nicely Ministries Newsletter for April Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV) 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Just as body armor is important for protection in a natural battle setting, so is spiritual armor vital in protecting us from the enemies attacks. The armor of God supplies, when applied and used correctly a barrier that the enemy cannot penetrate. It’s interesting that the apostle Paul chose to draw analogies from the natural armor worn by Roman soldiers during his day. He was probably chained to one, and began to inspect the various items, and their purposes when the Holy Spirit inspired his mind to write about each part. Look at what the scripture tells us about the invisible war that we find ourselves in. Ephesians 6:10-18 (NKJV)10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and having shod your feet with the preparations of the gospel of peace; 16above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— There are three things that you must remember if you are going to win the fight against your adversary the devil. 1—You must endure to stand effectively; the main purpose for God’s spiritual armor is so you won’t fall in the day of battle. Standing is the only position of victory against Satan. We must stand against all forms of adverse circumstances. We must stand against his various temptations as Jesus did in Luke 4. We must stand against all matters of deceptions and untruths. Satan is so good at telling lies that he has many believing, and even preaching them from pulpits. These half truths must be stood up against by knowing the truth. We must stand up for what we believe and not waver no matter who tries to shake us, Look at Ephesians 6:13. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 2—The second thing we must know is putting on God’s armor is not a passive action; Many people foolishly believe that once they became a Christian God covered them with his armor. Friend it is true that the armor of God is ours, but the bible also exhorts us that we must put it on. If we are already wearing it at the conversion experience why would Paul tell us to put it on? We must understand that each peace of armor answers to a spiritual reality that we will all face in battle. So knowing this it is vitally important that we know how to use each piece of armor at the appropriate time. By putting on the armor when we need it we are guaranteed protection from enemy attacks. 3—The third thing that we need to know is that putting on God’s armor is not merely a mental or verbal ritual; But instead it is walking in the knowledge of who you are in Christ. It’s walking in the truth and reality of God’s word, and allowing the word of God to penetrate deep into your heart. When you embrace, and live according to God’s word forsaking deliberate sins and memorizing and applying scriptures to life’s circumstances you’ll soon find yourself in the right relationship with God. The main reason for wearing spiritual armor is to protect yourself during your times of prayer. Your greatest attacks come during times of prayer. He is constantly trying to distract your mind and lead you away from this connection with the Father. If we will wear our armor and be alert to use our weapons when small trials come our way this will thwart them from becoming massive attacks. Friend be prepared to stand your ground. Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV); 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Continued Next Month |
